Overview

Creating and sending an invoice is typically the final step in the client billing workflow. However, there may be times when you need to revisit an invoice after it has been created. Whether you're adjusting a due date, correcting invoice details, or similar work, Quicken Business & Personal provides tools to help you manage existing invoices.

This article explains how to manage invoices after they've been created and sent.

Note: If you need assistance creating a new invoice, see Creating and Sending Invoices in Quicken Business & Personal.

Editing an Invoice

Whether you need to update dates, adjust items, or fix a client detail, Quicken Simplifi makes it easy to edit your invoice so everything stays accurate.

Note: If you make changes to a previously sent invoice, you might want to resend it.

  1. Hover over the left panel and click Sales & Billing, and then select Invoices.

  2. Go to the "UNPAID" tab for sent invoices or the "DRAFTS" tab for unsent ones.

  3. Once you find the invoice that you want to edit, click the three-dot icon to its right.

  4. Click View Invoice.

  5. Make the desired changes to the Invoice.

  6. Click Save at the top to save the Invoice.

  7. Click Send to... to send the corrected Invoice to the client.

Set a Custom Due Date for an Invoice

You can set a custom default due date for your invoices to automatically apply your preferred payment terms whenever you create a new invoice. This can save time and help keep billing consistent across your business.

  1. Hover over the left panel, click Sales & Billing, and select Invoices.

  2. Click the + Create button.

  3. Select Create invoice.

  4. Click on the calendar icon within the Due Date field.

Duplicating an Invoice

If you need to create a new invoice with details similar to a previous one, you can duplicate an existing invoice instead of starting from scratch. This can save time and help ensure consistency across your invoices.

  1. Hover over the left panel and select Sales & Billing and then Invoices.

  2. Locate the invoice you'd like to duplicate, hover over it, then click the three dots at the end of it.

  3. Click Duplicate invoice.

  4. In the Edit tab, make any changes needed.

  5. Click Send to... and then enter or confirm the Email Address, Subject, and Email Message. Click Send when done.

    • If you are sending the invoice another way, select Mark as sent (no email).

Deleting an Invoice

If you no longer need an invoice, you can delete it to remove it from your invoice list and keep your records organized.

  1. Hover over the left panel and click Sales & Billing, and then select Invoices.

  2. Locate the invoice you want to delete, then click the three-dot icon to its right.

  3. Click Delete Invoice.

  4. A pop-up will appear to confirm that you want to delete your invoice. Click Delete Invoice to confirm.

Next Steps

After creating, sending, and managing your invoices, you'll need to record payments as your clients pay their balances. Applying payments to invoices helps you track what's been paid, what's still outstanding, and maintain accurate client records.
