Handling Transfers in Reports on the Mobile App

Learn how to manage transfers in Reports on the Mobile App.

Written by Dora R

Overview

By design, Quicken Simplifi treats transfers—including credit card payments—as neither income nor expense, so they’re excluded from the Reports by default. This is because moving money between accounts doesn’t change your net worth. However, you can choose to include transfers in your Reports if needed.

How Does It Work?

Transfers—whether recurring or one-time—are transactions that use a Transfer category (like Credit Card Payment) or move money between your accounts (linked transfers). By default, these are excluded from Reports.

Note: In its current design, positive transfers are treated as income, while negative transfers are treated as expenses.

Include transfers in Reports

You can also choose to include recurring transfers and transfer transactions in Reports. For linked transfers—where both sides appear in Quicken Simplifi (money moving out of one account and into another)—you can include just one side in the report, giving you flexible control over how transfers are reflected.

Include a Transfer Transaction

  1. Tap the Menu (three-line icon).

  2. Tap Transactions.

  3. Locate the transaction you'd like to include in the Report, then tap it.

  4. Scroll down and uncheck the Exclude from Reports box to disable it.

  5. Tap Update when done.

Note: To include both sides of a linked transfer in Reports, repeat the same steps for the other side of the transfer.

Include a Recurring Transfer Series

  1. Tap the Menu (three-line icon).

  2. Tap Settings and then Recurring Series.

  3. Locate the Recurring Transfer Series you'd like to include in the Report and tap the three-dot icon at the end of it.

  4. Tap Edit Series.

  5. Scroll down and uncheck the Exclude from Report box to disable it.

  6. Tap Update when done.

Note: For recurring linked transfers, you can choose to include either or both sides of the transfer: the Money Out side (linked to the Select Account field in the recurring series setup) and the Money In side (linked to the Category field).
