Overview
Your automobile is an asset that contributes to your net worth. By linking your vehicle to Kelley Blue Book in Quicken Simplifi, you can automatically track its estimated value without having to update it manually.
Once linked, your automobile account balance will update every 30 days based on Kelley Blue Book's current valuation.
Note: Kelley Blue Book may not have a trade-in value available for brand-new, exotic, or rare vehicles. In these cases, the estimated value may be closer to the purchase price or manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP). For most vehicles, Quicken Simplifi uses Kelley Blue Book's trade-in value.
Add a New Kelley Blue Book Account
To link Kelley Blue Book when adding a new automobile asset account, follow these steps:
Note: If the value provided by Kelley Blue Book doesn't look right, you will have the option of adding manually.
Tap the Menu icon (three lines).
Select Accounts.
Tap + New in the upper-right corner.
Select Track assets and then select Automobile.
Enter your vehicle details using one of the following methods:
Make/Model: Enter the Year, Make, Model, Trim, Miles, and ZIP Code.
VIN: Enter the 17-digit VIN, Miles, and ZIP Code.
Tap Continue.
Select your vehicle's condition based on Kelley Blue Book's definitions, then tap Continue.
Review the details and tap Continue to finish.
Link an Existing Account to Kelley Blue Book
If you already have a manual asset account for your automobile in Quicken Simplifi, you can link it to Kelley Blue Book.
Tap the Menu icon (three lines).
Select Accounts.
Tap + New in the upper-right corner.
Select Track assets, then select Automobile.
Enter your vehicle details using one of the following methods:
Make/Model: Enter the Year, Make, Model, Trim, Miles, and ZIP Code.
VIN: Enter the 17-digit VIN, Miles, and ZIP Code.
Tap Continue.
Select your vehicle's condition based on Kelley Blue Book's definitions, then tap Continue.
Review the details and tap Continue.
From the Link to dropdown, select your existing manual asset account, then tap Continue.
Unlink an Account from Kelley Blue Book
If you prefer to track your automobile's value manually, you can unlink it from Kelley Blue Book.
Tap the Menu icon (three lines).
Select Settings, then Accounts.
Locate your vehicle account and tap the three-dot icon next to it.
Select Make manual.
Tap Make Manual to confirm.
Mileage and Other Updates
Quicken Simplifi offers options for keeping your vehicle's mileage and valuation up to date. You can enable automatic mileage updates, customize the mileage increment, or manually edit your vehicle details.
Note: Automatic mileage updates are enabled by default, but you can disable them at any time.
Enable Automatic Mileage Updates
Tap the Menu icon (three lines).
Tap Settings, then select Accounts.
Locate your Kelley Blue Book-linked account and tap the three-dot icon next to it.
Tap Edit Account.
Check the box next to Automatically update miles.
Tap Update.
Customize How Mileage Automatically Updates
Tap the Menu icon (three lines).
Tap Settings, then select Accounts.
Locate your Kelley Blue Book-linked account and tap the three-dot icon next to it.
Tap Edit Account.
Make sure Automatically update miles is checked.
Tap the edit pencil.
Select Add custom amount every 30 days.
Enter the number of miles you want to add.
Tap Update, then tap Update again to save your changes.
Manually Update Details
Tap the Menu icon (three lines).
Tap Settings, then select Accounts.
Locate your Kelley Blue Book-linked account and tap the three-dot icon next to it.
Tap Edit Account.
Tap Edit details.
Make the necessary changes, then tap Continue.
Disable Automatic Mileage Updates
Tap the Menu icon (three lines).
Tap Settings, then select Accounts.
Locate your Kelley Blue Book-linked account and tap the three-dot icon next to it.
Tap Edit Account.
Uncheck the box next to Automatically update miles.
Tap Update.
