What's the Difference Between Quicken Simplifi and Quicken Classic?

Learn some of the differences between Quicken Simplifi and Quicken Classic

While Quicken Simplifi and Quicken Classic offer similar abilities, such as the ability to automatically download and categorize transactions, as well as the ability to create Recurring Bill Reminders, there are some critical differences.

The key difference is that Quicken Simplifi is fully web-based, requiring no desktop installation. You can access it through any supported web browser or the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App on your device. With internet access, Quicken Simplifi is always available!

Below, you'll find more examples of how Quicken Simplifi differs from Quicken:

  • Quicken Simplifi only offers one connection method, similar to what Quicken Classic refers to as Quicken Connect.

    • Quicken Classic offers multiple connection methods, such as Express Web Connect (Quicken Connect), Direct Connect, and Web Connect.

  • Quicken Simplifi offers a different approach to budgeting. Quicken Simplifi creates a Spending Plan automatically based on the Recurring Income, Bills, and Subscriptions you've set up, leaving the money that's left over as available to budget or save for other items, or to spend as desired.

    • Quicken Classic offers a traditional category-based budgeting system where you set amounts for spending in each category. In addition to being highly customizable, Quicken Classic's Budget allows you to set different values for each month and more.

  • While you can connect to your various Billers and receive updated due dates and amounts, Quicken Simplifi does not offer a Bill Pay service of any kind.

  • Quicken Simplifi does not offer any tax planning abilities outside of tracking tax-related spending and income transactions.

    • Quicken Classic offers detailed tracking of taxable and tax-deferred accounts, exporting abilities to tax-related software, and more.

  • Quicken Simplifi now offers you the ability to track your business and personal finances with Quicken Business & Personal! For more information on pricing, speak to one of our product coaches!

    • With Quicken Business & Personal, you can add a business, track expenses, create itemized tax reports, send invoices to customers, and manage your personal finances—all in one place!!

    • Quicken Business & Personal does not offer features to manage rental properties and tenants.
