Overview

Quicken Simplifi automatically categorizes your transactions using smart logic and nearby payee data, and it usually does a great job. However, there are times when some transactions are categorized incorrectly. Whether it’s groceries categorized as “Shopping” or a paycheck missing its “Income” category, Simplifi gives you the tools to recategorize any transaction in just a few clicks.

Note: You can use the transaction Rules feature to help ensure the right Category is assigned every time. Learn more about this helpful feature on How to Use Transaction Rules.

Recategorize a Single Transaction

  1. Hover over the left panel and click Transactions.

  2. Locate the transaction you'd like to recategorize and click on its Category field.

  3. Click the dropdown arrow to select a category from the list or type in the category.

    • Note: If the category you're looking for isn't listed, you can create a new one.

  4. Press Enter on your keyboard or click off the transaction to save the changes.

Recategorize Multiple Transactions to the Same Category

  1. Hover over the left panel and click Transactions.

  2. Locate the transactions to recategorize, hover over each one, and check the box to the left of each transaction.

  3. Click the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of the Transaction Activity view.

  4. Select Category and then click the dropdown arrow to select a category from the list or type in the category.

    • Note: If the category you're looking for isn't listed, you can create a new one.

  5. Click Apply when done.
