Choosing between Quicken Classic and Quicken Simplifi depends on your financial management needs. If you decide to move from one product to the other, this article explains what to expect, as there is no direct option to switch between them.
Although both products are developed by Quicken Inc., there are several key differences between them:
Installation: Quicken Classic is installed locally on your computer, while Quicken Simplifi is a cloud-based application that you access through a web browser or mobile app.
Connection Types: Quicken Simplifi supports multiple connection methods, including Plaid, Finicity, API, and Express Web Connect (EWC), but it does not support Direct Connect.
Budgeting: Quicken Simplifi focuses on tracking your monthly income and spending through the Spending Plan, while Quicken Classic uses a more traditional category-based budgeting system.
Bill Pay: Quicken Simplifi does not include a bill payment service.
Investments: Quicken Classic offers more advanced investment tracking and management features than Quicken Simplifi.
Each product operates independently and uses its own data structure and accounting model. Quicken Simplifi is designed as a modern, streamlined tool for budgeting and financial planning, while Quicken Classic offers a more traditional, feature-rich desktop experience with greater customization.
Note: Quicken Classic and Quicken Simplifi use different data formats, so data cannot be imported directly between the two products. If you switch from one product to another, you'll need to start with a new data file and set up your accounts again.

Quicken's Refund Policy
Quicken offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all products. If you decide to change to a different Quicken product within 30 days of your original purchase, you can request a refund for your current product. The new product must be purchased separately.
If you decide to change products after the 30-day refund window has ended, a refund for your original purchase cannot be guaranteed.
