Overview
By design, Quicken Simplifi considers Transfers, including Credit Card Payments, to be neither an income nor an expense, and therefore excludes them from the Spending Plan by default. This is because you're simply moving funds from one account to another, which does not change your net worth. However, there are ways to include Transfers in the Spending Plan!
For more details on how Transfers work on the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App, please see our Support Article here!
How Does It Work?
Whether a Recurring Transfer or an individual Transfer Transaction, Transfers are any transaction that uses a Transfer Category, such as "Credit Card Payment", or Transfers to other accounts (Linked Transfer). These types of items are excluded from the Spending Plan by default. When excluded, you will still see them in the Transfers section of the Spending Plan, but they will be greyed out.
Greyed-out items in the Transfers section of the Spending Plan means that the item is not being included toward the total for this section, or toward the overall Spending Plan total, but will be counted toward the "including ignored" total. Seeing excluded items in the Spending Plan makes it super easy to include them if you'd like!
Including Transfers in the Spending Plan
You can also elect to include Recurring Transfers and Transfer Transactions in the Spending Plan! When it comes to Linked Transfers where you see both sides in Quicken Simplifi (the money going out of one account and into another account), you can also easily include just one side in the Spending Plan, giving you all the flexibility you may need when it comes to your Transfers!
Include a Transfer Transaction in the Spending Plan
Click the Menu icon (the three lines in the upper left corner).
Select Accounts.
Select the account that has the transaction you'd like to include in the Spending Plan.
Locate the transaction you'd like to include in the Spending Plan and click on it.
Scroll down and expand the Exclude Transaction section.
Use the Exclude from Spending Plan toggle to disable it.
Note: If you'd like to include both sides of a Linked Transfer Transaction in the Spending Plan, follow the same steps for the other side of the Transfer.
Click Update when done.
Include a Recurring Transfer in the Spending Plan
Click the Menu icon (the three lines in the upper left corner).
Select Settings and then Recurring Series.
Locate the Recurring Transfer Series you'd like to include in the Spending Plan and click the three dots at the end of it.
Select Edit Series.
Scroll down and then use the Exclude from Spending Plan toggle to disable it.
Note: For Recurring Linked Transfers, you'll have the option to include either or both the Money Out side and the Money In side of the Transfer.
Click Save when done.
