When and How to Reset Your Account Connections

Learn when and how to reset your account connections in Quicken Simplifi

Written by Natalie

Overview

Resetting your account connections disconnects your connected accounts from Quicken Simplifi and lets you reconnect them to your financial institution. This can help resolve certain connection issues during troubleshooting.

Because this is a troubleshooting step, you should only reset your account connections if instructed to do so in a Help article or by a support agent.

Before Resetting Your Account Connections

Before resetting your account connections, check whether there are other troubleshooting steps you can try first or if there's a known issue with the financial institution you're trying to connect to.

  • To see if there's a known issue with your financial institution, visit the Quicken Community by clicking here.

  • For troubleshooting steps for the most common bank download errors, click here.

  • If you're experiencing a balance discrepancy, click here for troubleshooting steps.

  • If you're missing transactions from one or more accounts, click here for troubleshooting steps.

  • If you're seeing duplicate transactions in one or more of your accounts, click here for troubleshooting steps.

Resetting Account Connections

  1. Click the Settings (gear) icon in the upper-right corner.

  2. Select Accounts.

  3. Find the financial institution with the connection issue and click the three-dot menu next to it.

  4. Select Reset connection.

  5. Click Reset to confirm.

    • Your accounts will be disconnected. If you choose not to reconnect them, they'll remain disconnected and you'll need to update them manually.

  6. Enter the User ID and Password you use to sign in to your financial institution, then click Connect.

    • If your account uses the OAuth connection method, click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection.

  7. When your accounts appear, match each online account with its corresponding account in Quicken Simplifi. If you need help linking your accounts, click here.

    • If you see accounts you don't want to add, clear the checkbox next to those accounts to ignore them.

  8. Click Add when you're finished.

Will I Lose My Data During This Process?

No. Resetting your account connections only affects the connection between Quicken Simplifi and your financial institution. Your transaction history, categories, and all other manually entered data remain unchanged, so you can troubleshoot connection issues without losing your financial records.
