Overview
Quicken Simplifi’s Savings Goals can help you easily plan for your future, whether you're planning a vacation, buying a home, or anything in between!
Savings Goals are easy: as soon as you tell Quicken Simplifi what you want to save for, and how much you want to save, we'll tell you what to contribute and how often. Don't have a goal date in mind? Not a problem! You can choose how much to contribute, and we'll tell you when you'll achieve your goal.
Create a Savings Goal
Hover over the left panel and click Savings Goals.
Click the Create Goal button.
If you've already created a savings goal and you want to add another, click the blue + Goal button in the upper-right corner.
Select the type of goal that you'd like to create.
Enter a goal name and a goal amount. If you've already started saving, you can enter the amount saved under Amount saved and select the account from which it was saved.
Note: If you would like to add additional accounts with saved funds, click + Add Account.
Click Continue.
You can set a target goal date or select Don't Set if you don't have a date in mind, and then select a Start date.
Note: You will only be given the option to select a Start date if you don't have anything saved so far.
Click Continue.
Confirm the Goal details and select whether you'd like your monthly contribution amount to be included in your Spending Plan.
Click Create Goal when done.
Contributing to Your Savings Goals
You can choose when and how often you want to contribute to your Savings Goals. When you contribute funds to a Savings Goal, on the accounts list, Quicken Simplifi will separate the amount you've contributed from your available balance.
Note: Currently, contributions are only supported from checking, savings, or other banking account types—not from credit, loan, or investment accounts.
As an example, if your bank balance is $5,410.00 and you've told Quicken Simplifi that you've contributed $500.00 from your account to your Savings Goal, Quicken Simplifi will add a separate Available Balance, which is: $4,910.00 (the amount remaining after your Goal contributions).
Note: Quicken Simplifi will never add to or withdraw money from your actual financial accounts. Our goal is to help you stay accountable and keep moving forward!
Adding a Contribution
Hover over the left panel and click Savings Goals.
Locate the Goal that you'd like to contribute to and select the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner.
Select Contribute to goal.
Enter the Amount to contribute and select the Take from account you want your contribution to come from.
Click Contribute when done.
Withdrawing From a Savings Goal
In Quicken Simplifi, there are two ways you can withdraw funds from a Savings Goal:
Spend a Custom Amount: This option allows you to use the money you’ve saved towards your Goal to spend on all or part of your Goal. Choosing this option doesn’t affect your "saved so far" or "left to save" amounts, but it does indicate how much Goal money has been spent towards your Goal.
Withdraw for Something Else: This option lets you transfer all or part of your contribution(s) back to your spending funds, which is helpful if your circumstances change and you need to use some of your Goal money elsewhere. When you select this, the withdrawn funds are removed from your "saved so far" total and added back to the "left to save" amount for your Goal.
Hover over the left panel and click Savings Goals.
Locate the Goal that you'd like to withdraw from and select the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner.
Select Withdraw from goal.
Select Spend a custom amount or Withdraw for something else, whichever applies.
Enter the desired Amount to withdraw.
Click Withdraw when done.
How Goal Contributions and Withdraws are Handled in the Spending Plan
Including your Savings Goals contributions in the Spending Plan ensures the monthly contribution amount is automatically accounted for. If you contribute more than planned in a given month, the extra amount will also be included in the Spending Plan.
When withdrawing from a Savings Goal, choosing the "spend a custom amount" option will not affect the Spending Plan. However, if you select "withdrawing for something else," the withdrawn funds—up to the preset monthly contribution amount—will be removed from the Spending Plan.
Please note that this only applies to Savings Goals that are included in the Spending Plan. Goals that are ignored will appear grayed out in the Spending Plan, and their contributions and withdrawals will not affect the plan in any way.
Include or Exclude a Savings Goal from the Spending Plan
Hover over the left panel and click Spending Plan, and then select Goals.
Locate the Goal that you'd like to include/exclude and select the three-dot icon at the end of it.
Select Exclude from Spending Plan or Include in Spending Plan, whichever applies.
