Overview
Sales Receipts make it easy to provide clients with a record of payment for your products or services. Similar to a receipt you receive after making a purchase, a Sales Receipt confirms that payment has been received and the transaction is complete.
Unlike invoices, which are used to request payment, Sales Receipts are issued after payment has been received. They’re ideal for on-the-spot payments, situations where an invoice isn’t needed, or when a client needs confirmation that an invoice has been paid. You can also use them to keep a record of completed sales for your own records.
Create a Sales Receipt
You can create Sales Receipts directly from the Sales & Billing section. When creating a receipt, you can either select an existing transaction or have Quicken automatically create a transaction using the details from the Sales Receipt.
Tap the Menu (three-line) icon.
Select Sales & Billing, then select Sales Receipts.
Tap the + button in the upper-right corner.
Tap Create sales receipt.
Select the Business, then select the Client & Project.
Confirm the Sales Receipt # and Issue date.
Tap Edit or Add Items to add or edit items.
To remove an item, tap the X in the upper-right corner of the item.
To mark an item as taxable, select Taxable. Only one tax rate can be applied to each Sales Receipt.
Tap Continue.
Add a Discount by entering a dollar amount or percentage.
Add any Notes you'd like to include.
Under Payment details, select Yes or No to indicate whether an existing transaction is associated with the Sales Receipt.
If you select Yes, tap Select transaction, choose the transaction from the list, and tap Confirm.
Note: The amount on the Sales Receipt must match the transaction amount.
