Using Quicken Assist Chat

Overview

Quicken Assist Chat is an in‑product AI chat experience designed to help you better understand your finances and take action within Quicken Simplifi. By asking questions in natural language, you can get personalized guidance, explore insights based on your data, and complete common tasks more efficiently—without needing to search through multiple help articles.

Quicken Assist Chat can review your Quicken Simplifi data to provide tailored responses and, when you ask, help you make changes in the product. You always remain in control: no actions are taken without your review and approval.

Note: Quicken Assist Chat is currently only available for Basic subscribers.


How to Enable and Access Quicken Assist Chat

Before you can use Quicken Assist Chat, it must be enabled in your settings.

Enable Quicken Assist Chat on the Web App

  1. Hover over the left panel and select Settings.

  2. In the General tab, turn on the toggle for Quicken AI.

Enable Quicken Assist Chat on the Mobile App

  1. Tap the Menu (three-line) icon.

  2. Tap Settings and then General.

  3. Turn on the toggle for Quicken AI.

Access Quicken Assist Chat

Once enabled, you can open Quicken Assist Chat by selecting the floating chat button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. This starts a new chat.

Access Previous Quicken Assist Chat Conversations

Previous conversations are saved and displayed in the sidebar of the chat window on the Web App, making it easy to revisit earlier questions and responses:

How to Disable Quicken Assist Chat

If you’d like to disable Quicken Assist Chat, you can do so at any time. Doing so will not lose past conversations; you can simply re-enable Quicken Assist to view your history.

Disable Quicken Assist Chat on the Web App

  1. Hover over the left panel and select Settings.

  2. In the General tab, turn off the toggle for Quicken AI.

  3. Click Confirm.

Disable Quicken Assist Chat on the Mobile App

  1. Tap the Menu (three-line) icon.

  2. Tap Settings and then General.

  3. Turn off the toggle for Quicken AI.

  4. Tap Confirm.


What You Can Use Quicken Assist Chat For

You can use Quicken Assist Chat to:

  • Get personalized guidance based on your Quicken Simplifi data, goals, and preferences

  • Learn how features work and get step-by-step help with common tasks

  • Search for specific transactions or account details quickly

  • Create or update items like savings goals, transactions, and transaction rules when you ask

  • Receive suggestions, such as saving strategies or timelines, tailored to your situation

When actions are available, you’ll see changes happen in real time and be asked to review and approve them before anything is finalized.


Examples of Questions You Can Ask Quicken Assist Chat

You can ask open-ended, natural-language questions and receive personalized guidance based on your financial situation. For example:

“What are some types of savings accounts I should consider? I don’t have kids, and I already have a 401(k).”

How Quicken Assist Chat helps:
Quicken Assist Chat reviews your situation and provides tailored recommendations, explaining different savings account options, their benefits and tradeoffs, and how each may fit into your goals—such as building emergency savings, planning for short- or mid-term expenses, or supplementing retirement savings.

Question:
“Can you help me understand where I’m overspending each month?”

How Quicken Assist Chat helps:
Quicken Assist Chat reviews your recent spending activity in Quicken Simplifi, identifies categories where spending is higher than usual or above your typical patterns, and summarizes key trends. It highlights areas to watch and suggests next steps—such as adjusting spending plans or setting alerts—so you can make informed decisions.

Question:
“Can you help me find an Uber transaction from June?”

How Quicken Assist Chat helps:
Quicken Assist Chat searches your transactions in Quicken Simplifi based on the details you provided—such as the merchant name and time frame—and surfaces matching results. It helps you quickly locate the transaction so you can review details like the amount, date, and category, or take action if something doesn’t look right.


Tips for Getting the Best Results

For the most helpful responses:

  • Ask clear, specific questions

  • Ask one question at a time

  • Provide context about what you’re trying to accomplish

  • Remember that Quicken Assist Chat keeps relevant details from earlier conversations in mind, so you don’t always need to repeat yourself

  • If a response isn’t quite right, try rephrasing or adding more detail


Important Things to Know

  • Quicken Assist Chat can review your Simplifi data from recent or historical time periods, though larger or older datasets may take longer to process

  • Quicken Assist Chat will explain its reasoning as it works through your request so you can understand what it’s doing

  • Quicken Assist Chat will not take action unless you explicitly ask it to and approve the proposed changes

  • Quicken Assist Chat is not a replacement for the Care Team and cannot help with subscriptions, Quicken account issues, or technical problems

  • If you ask a question outside the scope of financial topics, you’ll be guided back to relevant questions or directed to Support when appropriate

How Quicken Assist Chat Handles General Knowledge Questions

In addition to using your Quicken Simplifi data, Quicken Assist Chat can answer general financial questions using information learned from a wide range of publicly available sources during training. However, it does not have access to real-time data and cannot answer questions about current events or market-moving news.

For example, Quicken Assist Chat cannot evaluate the immediate impact of recent news on a specific stock or investment. Instead, it can help explain historical trends, common benchmarks, and general financial concepts to provide helpful context.

“How much does the average 24-year-old in the Bay Area have saved?”

How Quicken Assist Chat helps:
Quicken Assist Chat explains that there is no single authoritative figure, outlines what national surveys and expert research generally show, and provides context about regional differences—such as higher wages and higher living costs—so you can better understand how your situation compares to typical ranges rather than a single number.


Privacy and Data Use

Quicken Assist Chat uses your Quicken Simplifi data to generate personalized responses. Conversations are shown only to you within the product.

You can optionally provide feedback on responses using the thumbs-up or thumbs-down icons. If you choose to leave additional comments, it helps improve the experience, as response logs are not otherwise reviewed.

Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information beyond what already exists in your account.
