Overview

Seeing what transactions belong to a client or project at a quick glance has never been easier than with Quicken Business & Personal's column options, allowing you to view what clients and projects a transaction is tied to within the register. Reporting filters are also available, allowing you to drill down into specific aspects of your business and clients.

Enabling the Client / Project column

The Client/Project column gives you the flexibility to view what transactions are tied to specific clients or projects associated with your business. You can also assign clients and projects to a transaction directly from the Transaction Activity screen.

  1. Hover over the menu on the left-hand side and select Transactions.

  2. Click the gear icon to the upper right of the Transactions List.

  3. Click on the Client / Project column and a checkmark will appear next to it. To remove the Column, just uncheck it.
Note: You can reset your Columns back to default by selecting the gear icon to the upper right of the Transactions List and then selecting Reset to defaults.

Assigning a Client or Project to a transaction

With the Client / Project column enabled, you can assign a client or project directly from the Transaction Activity window. If a transaction is not associated with a business but is linked to a client or project in the Transaction Activity, it will be automatically associated to the business tied to the client/project.

  1. Hover over the menu on the left-hand side and select Transactions.

  2. Find or search for the Transaction you want to associate with a Client/Project.

  3. Click on the Client / Project column dropdown and select the applicable Client or Project.

Note: you can remove a Client or Project from the Transaction by clicking the small X in the corner of the field.

Filtering reports with Clients and Projects

Quicken Business & Personal users can now filter their Profit & Loss reports by Clients & Projects or Clients.

  1. Hover over the menu on the left-hand side and select Reports.

  2. In the Profit & Loss report header, click on the Column dropdown.

  3. Select Clients & Projects or Clients.

    • Clients & Projects: will incorporate transactions tied to all clients and projects.

    • Clients: will incorporate only transactions tied to a client and not to a project.

Note: Client & Project report filtering is not available on the Quicken Business & Personal mobile app.
