With the discontinuation of Mint, many users are seeking alternatives to manage their finances effectively. Quicken Simplifi offers a robust solution with powerful features tailored to simplify money management. If you're considering making the switch, one of the crucial steps is transferring your transactional data from Mint to Quicken Simplifi. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of importing your transactions using a CSV file or our custom-made Chrome Extension.

Things to Note Before Import
Avoid Altering the Downloaded File: Ensure that you do not make any changes to the downloaded CSV or JSON file from Mint before importing it into Quicken Simplifi. Any necessary modifications should be done within Quicken Simplifi after the import process.
Select "Mint" Option for Import: When importing transactions from Mint into Quicken Simplifi, make sure to choose the "Mint" option.
Transaction Limit: Note that Mint imports are limited to 10,000 transactions per import unless you use the Mint Import Chrome Extension.
No Recurring Transaction Suggestions: Quicken Simplifi will not provide Recurring Transaction suggestions for imported transactional data. You will need to manually create Recurring Transactions as needed.
Importing Categories: Quicken Simplifi will import your Categories from Mint. After importing your transactions, navigate to your Categories list under Settings. You'll see sections for "Mint Expense" and "Mint Income" where you can edit or move your Categories to ensure everything is properly set up.

Using the Google Chrome Extension to Import Transactions from Mint as a New User
If you're brand new to Quicken Simplifi, you can streamline the process of importing your Mint transactions by utilizing the Mint Import Google Chrome extension. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it:
Once you've created your account with Quicken Simplifi, log into the Web App.
You will begin our Getting Started Flow. To proceed, click Get Started.
Enter your First Name, Last Name, and Zip Code, then click Next.
Select Import From Mint and then stay on the Direct Import (Chrome) tab.
Click the link for "Export Mint to Simplifi" Chrome Extension, and then add the Extension to your Chrome browser.
Navigate back to Quicken Simplifi and click the link to log in to your Mint account.
Log in to your Mint account in the new tab that opens, and then select the Export Mint to Simplifi extension.
Select Start Mint Data Export, and then select Download My Data.
DO NOT click away until your file has been downloaded.
Navigate back to Quicken Simplifi and select the JSON file you'd like to import or Drag & Drop the file into the window, then click Continue.
Once your transactions have been imported, Quicken Simplifi will offer you the option to then connect your imported accounts to your banks. To do so, click Link Financial Institutions.
If you decide to do this at another time, click Finish Later. If you wish to import another file, click Import More Data.
Once done with importing, click Continue. You will then be taken back to our Getting Started Flow to finish setting up Quicken Simplifi.
Using the Google Chrome Extension to Import Transactions from Mint as an Existing User
If you're already using Quicken Simplifi but want to import transactions from Mint using the Chrome Extension, here's how you can do it:
Hover over the menu on the left-hand side and select Transactions.
Click the import icon (upward-facing arrow inside a cloud) located to the upper right of your Transaction Activity.
Select Import From Mint and then stay on the Direct Import (Chrome) tab.
Click the link for "Export Mint to Simplifi" Chrome Extension, and then add the Extension to your Chrome browser.
Navigate back to Quicken Simplifi and click the link to log in to your Mint account.
Log in to your Mint account in the new tab that opens, and then select the Export Mint to Simplifi extension.
Select Start Mint Data Export, and then select Download My Data.
DO NOT click away until your file has been downloaded.
Navigate back to Quicken Simplifi and select the JSON file you'd like to import or Drag & Drop the file into the window, then click Continue.
Before you complete your import, we recommend you clear out any data in your Quicken Simplifi account before doing this process. To do so, click Clear and Proceed.
Or, you can skip this step by clicking Proceed Without Clearing.
If your accounts were connected to the bank prior to importing the JSON file, you will want to reconnect them by going back through the Add Account flow and then linking the accounts found to your existing Quicken Simplifi accounts.
How to Manually Download Transactions from Mint
Even though Mint has shut down, you can still manually download your transactions from Mint to a CSV file. You can even still download your Mint transactions after moving your Mint data to Credit Karma!
Sign in to Mint.com.
Select Download my transactions.
Your CSV file of transaction data will begin downloading.
Manually Import Mint Transactions as a New User
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to manually import Mint transactions into Quicken Simplifi as a brand-new user:
Once you've created your account with Quicken Simplifi, log into the Web App.
You will begin our Getting Started Flow. To proceed, click Get Started.
Enter your First Name, Last Name, and Zip Code, then click Next.
Select Import From Mint.
Select File Import (Mint CSV).
Select the CSV file you'd like to import or Drag & Drop the file into the window, then click Continue.
Quicken Simplifi will detect the accounts imported from your CSV file. Select the Account Type for each account, then click Continue. You can also rename your accounts from this screen if you'd like.
Once your transactions have been imported, Quicken Simplifi will offer you the option to then connect your imported accounts to your banks. To do so, click Link Financial Institutions.
If you decide to do this at another time, click Finish Later. If you wish to import another CSV file, click Import More Data.
After you're done importing and/or connecting your accounts, you will have the option to then import your Account Balance History. Our support article here has more details on this.
Once done with importing, click Continue. You will then be taken back to our Getting Started Flow to finish setting up Quicken Simplifi.
Manually Import Mint Transactions as an Existing User
If you're an existing user of Quicken Simplifi and you want to manually import Mint transactions, here's how you can do it:
Hover over the menu on the left-hand side and select Transactions.
Click the import icon (upward-facing arrow inside a cloud) located to the upper right of your Transaction Activity.
Select Import from Mint.
Select File Import (Mint CSV).
Select the CSV file you'd like to import or Drag & Drop the file into the window, then click Continue.
Quicken Simplifi will detect the accounts imported from your CSV file.
If the accounts are being added as new, select the Account Type for each account. You can also rename your accounts from this screen if you'd like.
If you're importing into an existing Quicken Simplifi account, you must link the account(s) found to your existing account(s) by clicking the Link dropdown menu, and then selecting the existing account.
Click Continue.
Troubleshooting Mint Import Issues
If you're encountering issues importing transactions from Mint into Quicken Simplifi, here are some troubleshooting tips to help resolve the issues:
Import smaller batches: If you're experiencing delays or failures during the import, try importing smaller batches of transactions. Larger imports can strain processing capabilities and internet speed. Starting with smaller batches increases the likelihood of success.
Import one account at a time: If you're importing multiple accounts, consider importing into one account at a time. This approach helps isolate any issues with specific accounts and simplifies troubleshooting.
Test with a dummy account: Importing into a test dummy account can help identify issues with the original account. If the import is successful in the test account, continue importing into the new account.
Follow import steps carefully: Ensure you follow the import steps outlined in our guide meticulously. Pay attention to the "Things to Note Before Import" section and follow the recommended steps for a smooth import process.
Avoid duplicate transactions: To prevent duplicate transactions when connecting your imported accounts to the bank, follow these suggestions:
Import transactions from Mint before connecting the accounts to the bank in Quicken Simplifi.
If your accounts are already connected, ensure the dates in your CSV file don't overlap with the bank's transaction history.
For split transactions, which may cause duplicates, delete the duplicate transactions in Quicken Simplifi after the import.
Prefer existing categories: While Categories will be created during the import, it's advisable to set up Categories manually in Quicken Simplifi before importing transactions. Navigate to Settings > Categories to set up all your Categories beforehand for better mapping success.
By following these troubleshooting tips, you can overcome common issues encountered during the import process and ensure a smooth transition from Mint to Quicken Simplifi.
Note: At this time, transactions cannot be imported via the Quicken Simplifi Mobile App; instead, you'll want to use the Web App for this.
