Overview
If you're managing multiple clients or projects in Quicken Business & Personal, it's important to be able to quickly see which transactions are tied to each one. This article shows you how to enable the Client/Project column in your transaction list and use report filters to view and analyze financial activity by client or project. Whether you're assigning transactions or generating Profit & Loss reports, these tools help you stay organized and gain clearer insights into your business.
Enabling the Client / Project Column
The Client/Project column gives you the flexibility to view what transactions are tied to specific clients or projects associated with your business. You can also assign clients and projects to a transaction directly from the Transaction Activity screen.
Hover over the menu on the left side and select Transactions.
Click the gear icon to the upper right of the transactions list.
Click on the Client / Project column, and a checkmark will appear next to it. To remove the column, just uncheck it.
βNote: You can reset your columns back to default by selecting the gear icon to the upper right of the transactions list and then selecting Reset to defaults.
Assigning a Client or Project to a Transaction
With the Client / Project column enabled, you can assign a client or project directly from the Transaction Activity window. If a transaction is not associated with a business but is linked to a client or project in the Transaction Activity, it will be automatically associated with the business tied to the client/project.
Hover over the menu on the left side and select Transactions.
Find or search for the transaction you want to associate with a client/project.
Click on the Client / Project column dropdown and select the applicable client or project.
Note: You can remove a client or project from the transaction by clicking the small X in the corner of the field.
Instructions for Mobile
1. Tap the Menu (three-line icon) in the upper left corner.
2. Select Accounts.
3. Select the account that has the transaction you'd like to associate.
